Scott
Anaya
Executive
Director
Scott joined ABSN in January, 2006 as its first full
time executive director. He has 17 years of executive level non-profit
management experience. Scott’s organizational experience, both as executive
level staff and as a board director, has necessitated focus and personal
organization, financial integrity, accounting thoroughness, and other important
administrative skills. He has been an office director managing a large staff,
while advancing multiple tasks on a variety of issues. He has over twenty years
of financial experience including managing annual budgets approaching a million
dollars, managing the tight cash flows of NGO’s, as well as corporate and donor
relations. Scott has been a founding board member of two other nonprofit
organizations and has helped these groups build successful funding bases,
administrative and financial systems, and successful programs. He has also
served on a variety of national and local level committees of NGO’s and
governments. Scott is currently board president of Solace International, which
builds schools in many impoverished countries around the world. He is also
currently serving on the Anchorage Mayor's Healthy and Energy Efficient
Buildings Task Force. Scott’s personal interests include travel, skiing,
photography, and wine and in his spare time he skips the gym in favor of hikes
with his dog Charlie in the front-range.

Anna
Hilbruner
Assistant Project

Community Energy Efficiency Program
Anna Joined ABSN in October of 2006 as a program
coordinator. She is currently working on the Village End-Use Energy Efficiency
Measures, coordinating efficiency upgrades to community buildings in rural
Alaska. Prior to working for ABSN Anna served as an environmental coordinator
for Doyon / Aramark Joint Venture in Denali National park where she worked on a
variety of project ranging from green building design to recycling. Previously
Anna worked as an eco-tourism consultant evaluating lodges, and consulting small
lodge owners on operations and marketing. Anna holds a B.A. in International
Studies from Elon University, where she found her passion for sustainable
community development and volunteered as a course-linked service learning
director. In her spare time Anna enjoys working with energy raters, gardening,
traveling, and taking her pup Maya on hikes and canoe trips.

Geoff
Butler
Project

Community Energy
Efficiency Program
Geoff,
owner of Energy Conservation Alaska provides research, consulting, training,
technical assistance, and project management for energy efficiency projects
throughout Alaska. Geoff's consulting consists of training and education on
energy efficiency opportunities for individuals, organizations and governments.
Past projects include implementing the Statewide Electrical Savings Initiative
for the Rural Alaska Community Action Program Inc., 2002-2004. More than 2,000
electrical savings residential visits were accomplished in more than 50 rural
Alaska communities. Geoff co-authored the original grants in 2004 and currently
manages ABSN's Alaska Energy Authority funded projects that provide energy
efficiency upgrades in community buildings in 51 communities in rural Alaska.

Margie
Subers
Weatherization Technical

Margaret
“Margie” Subers recently joined ABSN in October 2011. Margie provides technical
assistance on Community Energy Efficiency Projects as an Energy Rater and a BPI
certified Building Analyst. Margie's previous work as an Energy Specialist for
community development projects was in both residential and multi-family units.
Her position enabled her to travel through many towns in Alaska; from Haines to
Tok and on to Talkeetna. Margie enjoys creating healthy, energy efficient spaces
for people and has a passion for building. Currently, Margie is completing a
super-insulated REMOTE WALL home/shop with Net Zero Energy goals. Her home is
built with 8” Foam on the exterior and 2 x 6 insulated walls. In 2001 Margie
received the "Manufacturing Firm of The Year Award" by the Arizona Small
Business Development Council for her experimental aircraft propeller
company. In 1999, Margie founded a licensed, bonded C-37R plumbing company
and performed general excavating while working with inspectors and health
departments to improve water quality in the State of Arizona. In 1988,
Margie co-built a solar powered home in Patagonia, Arizona, implementing the
latest technology known at that time. Margie’s hobbies include flying,
cooking, woodworking, campfires, and star-gazing.

Caren
Moss
Project Coordinator/Field
Manager
Caren Moss came to ABSN in July 2011
after three and a half years at a renewable energy education/advocacy non-profit
in Anchorage and a renewable energy/energy efficiency education non-profit in
Wisconsin three years before that. With a background in renewable energy, energy
efficiency, accounting (BS in Managerial Accounting from University of Wisconsin
– Stevens Point), construction, and education, Caren enjoys working in the
office coordinating current projects and then heading out to the villages to
help make those changes. Her interests include traveling within Alaska to help
weatherize community buildings in remote villages, XC skiing, biking year round,
and long walks on the beach….in the snow.

Jo Ann Valone
Project
Coordinator
Jo Ann became a part
of the ABSN family as a Project Coordinator in August, 2011. Jo Ann comes to us
with a diverse background in project management; most recently serving nine
years as a Documentationalist and Training Manager with State of Alaska Medicaid
where her travels throughout Alaska’s rural villages opened a new world. With a
love for helping others, Jo Ann joined Habitat for Humanity in 2003 and since
has assisted in the build of six homes; three of which were in Alaska. Jo Ann
completed her Associates degree from Southeastern University (FL) in Business
Management and went on to UMUC, Asia, to establish her career in Project
Management. Living in Japan for 5 years gave new energies and appreciation for
those who have little to nothing. Jo Ann re-energizes in life through her
volunteer work with the Red Cross Disaster Recovery Team, traveling, dancing,
and long walks on the beach… in the rain.

Berliner

Emily
joined ABSN in September 2011 as a Project Coordinator/Administrative Assistant.
Emily is currently contributing her efforts toward ABSN’s Energy Efficiency
Projects as well as administrative tasks. Emily has a diverse work history, but
her most recent endeavor was working in her hometown of Bethel, Alaska, as an
Office Manager for a vehicle rental and freight delivery business. Emily holds a
Bachelor’s degree in Geography from King’s College London and a Master’s degree
in Corporate Real Estate Finance & Strategy from Cass Business School, City
University London. Emily’s interests include running, skiing, cooking, travel
and enjoying the beauty of Alaska.

Tram
Nguyen
Accounting Assistant
Tram joined ABSN in October 2010 as an accounting
assistant to gain more work experience working with a non-profit organization.
She is also a student at the University of Alaska Anchorage majoring in
Accounting and Finance. Tram is currently tracking ABSN project budgets in 48
communities across three separate grants using complicated budget tracking
methods she has developed. Her personal hobby includes traveling, reading,
watching movies and sleeping. Tram hopes to continue contributing her best
efforts with ABSN's growth.
